Palisade, Colorado: A Tasting Tour of Nature and Community
Palisade brings the flavor. Famous for juicy peaches, this sunny Colorado gem offers so much more—farmers markets that feel like social hour, unpretentious fine dining, endless winery views, and laid-back vibes you won’t want to leave. Part farm town, part wine country, and all summer magic.
From late June to early July, Palisade’s apricot harvest is in full swing. Local orchards welcome visitors to pick ripe apricots straight from the trees for a true taste of farm life. During our mid-June visit, we caught the first harvests—plenty of stone fruits, warm sunshine, and perfect days for the kids to explore the orchards.
Whether you come to sip, snack, or stock up, Palisade is peak Colorado in every bite and pour. From June through October, the Sunday Farmers Market transforms downtown into a lively celebration of local flavor, with fresh produce, artisan goods, and live music creating a festive, small-town vibe.

Wine lovers can explore Restoration Vineyards, where family-grown grapes and scenic views of the Grand Mesa come together for a memorable tasting experience. The winery specializes in small-batch wines such as Barbera, Merlot, and Chardonnay. We were lucky enough to arrive on a Saturday afternoon, just in time to catch live music and enjoy a visit from a local food truck. To our surprise, Bonfire Oyster Food Truck was serving up incredibly fresh seafood—including what might just be the best oysters (topped with caviar and a cucumber mignonette) in Palisade.
Just a short drive away, Carlson Vineyards offers a cozy, down-to-earth atmosphere and a tasting room full of character. Known for its fruit-forward wines, the vineyard’s most popular offerings include the beloved Palisade Peach and the whimsical Laughing Cat series, both staples for visitors and locals alike. While Restoration Vineyards was extremely lively while we were there, Carlson Vineyards was a little quieter and the perfect way to end the day.
During our visit to Palisade, one dining experience stood out above all the rest—Pêche. Restaurant. Tucked into a quiet corner off Main Street, this small, elegant spot delivered what may genuinely be one of the best meals we've ever had.
From the moment we walked in, the space felt warm and thoughtful—refined without being stuffy. The staff was welcoming, and despite having only a two-hour dining window, the evening never felt rushed. Everything on the menu reflected an incredible amount of care, from the seasonal, locally sourced ingredients to the creative yet unfussy preparations.
The highlight of the evening was the American ribeye—beautifully seared, served with house-made chimichurri, crispy pommes frites, and a vibrant salad that somehow managed to steal the show in its own right. Another standout was the whipped foie gras with brioche and fresh Palisade peaches—a rich, delicate dish that balanced decadence with a touch of local sweetness. Every bite was perfectly composed, full of flavor, and nothing felt overdone. It was just right. Pêche. isn’t just a restaurant—it’s an experience. One that lingers long after the last bite and leaves you planning your return before you've even stepped outside.
